The qualities and skills David and his Staff exhibit when training with us in Coconut Creek are beyond my expectations, I'm excited to see the fighters that come out of that camp!" -Master Ricardo Liborio ![]() "David was an excellent striker who picked up Submission grappling very quickly, it was easy to keep promoting him in rank, with the level of advancement he was showing. He was a pleasure to train every time he made the trip over to Iowa. I'm proud to have him as one of my level 3 coachs -Pat Miletich ![]() "I was very proud that David became the first Muay Thai Kru on Long Island, i knew he was a good trainer ever since he started training with me back in 1999". -Master Toddy |
Long Island Wrestling
Wrestling is
a form of grappling type
techniques such as clinch
fighting, throws and takedowns, joint
locks, pins and
other grappling
holds. A wrestling bout is a physical competition, between
two (occasionally more) competitors or sparring partners, who attempt to
gain and maintain a superior
position. There are a wide range of styles with varying rules
with both traditional historic and modern styles. Wrestling techniques
have been incorporated into other martial arts as well as military hand-to-hand
combat systems.
In a recent study among MMA fans and practioners Wrestling was voted as
the most dominant style in Mixed Martial Arts. Wrestlings ultimate goal
is to be able to control an opponant in a clinch and on the ground by
applying technique, while using superior strength, speed, and agility.
Wrestling for MMA has taken techniques and training methods from several
different forms of wrestling including, freestyle, collegiate,
grecco-roman, and sambo to form a grappling style that allows you to
take an opponant down control an opponants postion on the floor and be
able to defend takedowns and keep a fight standing. A Mixed Martial
Arts program without any wrestling is not a MMA program at all! Here at
American Top Team we Provide the best training in Wrestling for MMA then
any other MMA camp on Long Island. Our no-gi brazilian Jiu Jitsu
training incorprates heavy wrestling influence which allows out students
to control their opponants more effectivley and finish more
frequently. Be weary of schools that teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu without
wrestling usually these schools promote “jumping Guard” which can be
dangerous in a MMA match and reality!
Not all MMA wrestling classes and instructors are the same!
